About

RENE RIVERA is a stage, television, and film actor since 1986, and father to three beautiful children. He is dedicated to sharing restorative stories, (stories that bring connection and healing to people). Born in San Antonio,Texas, Rene grew up in a historically Mexican American neighborhood speaking Spanish as the youngest of six children. He learned English in school, and the  value of simplicity, hard work, and resilience, along with a sense of humor, from his parents, Andres and Eva, who worked picking cotton in the local fields for much of their young married lives. After being accepted on a scholarship, he left San Antonio for New York City to attend The Juilliard School, Drama Division. Four years later, his career was launched after graduating, working on Broadway, Off Broadway, regional theater, theater abroad, film, and television. Rene now lives in Los Angeles, where he continues to work extensively in television, film, and theater. One of his  passions has been to using his art to give back to our society. Committed to creating a more compassionate world, Rene has studied to become a volunteer Nonviolent Parenting facilitator, helping families to become closer, and to communicate with each other in deeper, more meaningful ways. He has spent time in community building theater, including a national tour of “The Gift of Peace”, and the critically acclaimed “The King of the Desert”, both written by wife Stacey Martino Rivera. He is a Lifetime Member of the Actors Studio in Los Angeles, and New York.

RENÉ gives thanks, and gratitude to The Juilliard School, and to his family for their love, support, and inspiration.

ABOUT

“The King of the Desert” is one boy's search to find out who he really is in an environment that does not encourage self-expression. His journey begins in a barrio in Texas and eventually leads to The Julliard School and appearances on Broadway.

"An inspiring and intense story with one extraordinary actor and many, many souls. I was speechless!

Hoy LA, Los Angeles Times
Andrea Carrion

"I am drunk with this play!. I am so moved. Every moment is true and powerful. Stacey Martino's writing is like poetry. Valentino Ferriera's direction is spot on, and René Rivera's acting is absolutely brilliant!
